Double digit spending increase for vulnerable children and adults in Devon

Spending on services for vulnerable children and adults in Devon are set to rise by more than 10 per cent next year.

Devon County Council's target budget for 2022/23 was approved by the Cabinet today (Wednesday 8 December) but will not be finalised until February.

The target budget calls for an extra £18.2 million to be spent on adult care and health in the new financial year. That's an increase of 10.5 per cent.

There will be an increase of £11.6 million for children's services if the budget is ratified. That's a rise of 10.8 per cent.

There will be no live Remembrance Sunday Services in Exeter because of Covid-19 restrictions, it has been announced. Instead a service will be streamed live online.

A VOLUNTEER army of more than 150 volunteers are working from home across Devon to provide vital PPE back up for local NHS and healthcare front liners after a community fundraising appeal netted more than £2,000 in just one week.

Across Devon, the talented crew of craftspeople are stitching and cutting around the clock to provide essential scrubs, laundry bags, and headbands, as well as printing 3D visors, to help protect key staff in hospitals, care homes and in the community.

Stagecoach SW bus services to move to new timetable

At these unprecedented times, Stagecoach South West are working hard to maintain services across the region to keep their communities connected and ensure key workers can travel.

From Monday 30 March the bus operator will be reducing their frequency in line with customer demand and changing travel patterns.

For most routes this means a Sunday timetable with additional early morning journeys to allow key workers to commute. These special timetables will run Mondays to Saturdays with majority then operating a normal Sunday service.

BREAKING news that Devon could receive a much-needed multi-million-pound cash boost for its vital services has been welcomed by one of the county’s leading home care providers (January 2020).

Guardian Homecare, which operates services in the Exeter area, says it supports the new spending boost being proposed for essential Devon County Council services.

Stagecoach has announced a consultation on significant service enhancements for bus services in East Exeter, Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton, with revised timetables commencing 3 September 2018.

The enhancements are centred on route 56 and route J. They are primarily designed to increase access to employment to areas on the east of the city including the Science Park, Exeter Airport and businesses located in Middlemoor, Digby and Pynes Hill.

YMCA Exeter join Exeter City Council in pilot work experience programme

Six young residents from YMCA Exeter were invited to spend a time a day at the Civic Centre to pilot a new programme which aims to introduce homeless people into employment at the Council.

The Christian youth charity, who have existed in Exeter since 1846, provide services in Supported Accommodation, Training and Employment, and Health and Wellbeing.
