A technology firm is launching a unique ordering platform to help local businesses trade more safely and effectively during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Forage Lite, which is being launched today, will enable customers to order, pay for, and pick up goods, from local shops without having to come into the seller’s premises. Buyers only need a smart phone to access the new zero-contact click-and-collect way of shopping.
The technology service is designed for restaurants, take-aways, grocers, retailers and other small firms serving local communities.
Bucking the trend for high street closures, zero waste provisions business Nourish is to open a second branch the heart of Exeter in mid-April.

Lilian, 80 years old from Axminster, volunteers as treasurer of her local support group, helps fundraise in the local community, and has volunteered in the Axminster Hospiscare shop for over 22 years.
Shop manager, Anna says, “Lilian is very modest. She does so much to help in the shop but acts like it’s nothing. She often looks after the whole shop when we are short staffed and even pops in when she is out doing her shopping to check if we need any help. To me she is completely irreplaceable.”
“I volunteer my time in the shop 2 days a week and usually a little bit extra in...
If you were to pop into any Hospiscare shop now, you will be met by a new addition the team. Kim, in cardboard cut-out form, is updated each week with a new number - the hours of Hospiscare Community Nurse Specialist visits that are funded by the Weekly Prize Draw tickets sold in Hospiscare shops.
The real Kim Thomas is an Assistant Practitioner and familiar face at the Day Hospice at Searle House. Chris Routley, the Lottery Manager, says: “It was important to me that we showed a real Hospiscare care provider and not just a stock image, so I am delighted Kim has allowed us to use...

Exeter has made some great strides in meeting the needs of people with physical disabilities, but may be lagging behind in making adjustments for autistic people.
We all realise that a wheelchair user needs a ramp, rather than steps, to get into a building. It can be harder to know what changes to make to welcome someone with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
Understanding can be limited by stereotype and myth. Back in the 1950’s, child psychologist Bruno Bettelheim thought that Autism was caused by Refrigerator Mothers, and this was widely believed. Research using brain scans...
This wonderfully sunny weekend (29th – 30th May) saw The Shops at Dartington’s annual Food Fair back for its sixth year, and what a brilliant bank holiday weekend it was. Throughout the two days visitors were treated to the county’s fabulous food and drink producers and the opportunity to watch mouth-wateringly good workshops from Devon’s food and drink stars.
Commenting on the success of the Food Fair, managing director of The Shops at Dartington, Barbara King, said: “...
