'Crucial part' of Exeter's cycle network set to be approved

A new cycle route along one of Exeter’s busiest residential streets is expected to be approved next week.

Devon County Council says the proposed 700-metre stretch along Rifford Road, between the junctions with Ludwell Lane and Honiton Road, is said to form a “crucial part” of the city’s north-to-south E12 route.

Once completed, it will create a continuous route between Polsloe Bridge station and the new railway station at Marsh Barton.

The £1.7 million scheme, a third of which is funded by the Department for Transport, will go to the council’s ruling cabinet for...

Once completed, it will form a continuous route running from Polsloe Bridge station to the new railway station being constructed at Marsh Barton.

The £1.55 million scheme, a third of which will be funded by the Department for Transport, was approved in...

Exeter City Council says other areas will join “as and when vehicles, drivers and...

Simon Jupp, MP for East Devon, along with St Loyes councillors on Exeter City Council, are calling for a re-think of a cycle lane scheme on Russell Way.

Concerns have been raised by residents following the introduction of cycle lanes on both sides of Russell Way heading into Clyst Heath.

The road is also open to traffic from both directions which often leads to cars having to cross into cycle lanes on either side which raises concerns about the safety of both cyclists and road users.

The unusual scheme was pushed through planning by the Labour members of the...
