Teignbridge youngsters shine at Youth Games

Youngsters from Teignbridge performed superbly at the Devon Rotary Youth Games in Okehampton on Sunday 3 July.

The South West’s biggest annual youth sports event saw over 2,000 youngsters from across the county, along with representative teams from Cornwall, take part in 20 competitions across 12 sports at Simmons Park, Okehampton.

Teignbridge placed 2nd overall and 3rd in the Fair Play award. They also won a large number of medals, including gold in cricket, mini tennis, girls football, boys hockey and high 5 netball.

With prostate cancer claiming the lives of one many every hour in the UK, it's one of the most common male-specific diseases in the country, and the second biggest killer after lung cancer. Exeter Enterprise Rotary's £2k donation

More than £2,000 has been raised for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust thanks to the Exeter Enterprise Rotary Club Golf Day at the Exeter Golf and Country Club.

Organisers thanked members of the public and the Marines for supporting this annual event now in its sixth year.

Exeter Enterprise Rotary Club raise money for Countess Wear School

On Saturday, members of Exeter Enterprise met at Countess Wear School Exeter to assist with its Summer Fete. Our chosen stand was “Pick a Nail” and for a charge of 50p you picked a nail and depending on its colour, chose a prize from either a blue or red box. If you were lucky enough to pick the Gold Nail, then you received a choice of very special prizes.

Overall the day was a great success and the club raised approximately £50.00 towards the plaques for the school benches in its forest garden. We thank everyone who took part and made this event so enjoyable and fun.

Seaton swimming pool to make a splash this summer

Seaton Primary School's swimming pool will soon be open for anyone to use, thanks in part to East Devon District Council.

Over the past two years the pool has been given a thorough makeover. The old outdoor pool has been covered over with a structure that can be opened up in good weather, changing rooms and showers have been added and there is now access from the Elizabeth Road playing fields.

Last year, on a trial basis, Leisure East Devon opened the pool to the public. This year they are planning much more and Seaton will have a genuine community swimming pool to make use...

Exeter Round Table’s Annual charity fireworks display is being held at Westpoint again this year.

This spectacular event has grown to become the biggest fireworks display in Exeter, and taken on a new dimension since moving to Westpoint three years ago.

Expect a great fun night out for everyone with fairground rides, food and drink stalls and of course a spectacular fireworks display by Firemagic (UK) Ltd.

Gates open at 5.30pm, fireworks display starts at 7.30pm.
