A group has been formed to Save the Globe Inn, Chulmleigh from being converted to two dwellings. Townsfolk were up in arms when they discovered a Planning Application had been submitted.

A petition has gathered over 460 signatures with plenty of comments indicating anger and disappointment that this could be the end of a very popular pub, which for many holds so many fond memories.

There is a general feeling that the London-based company, who own the pub, are not in tune with the local community. A lot of money has been spent refurbishing the pub but to a standard best suited to an upmarket city wine bar. For many the pub has lost its personality, its identity and a community feel.

People are generally very upset over this and the Save The Globe Inn group are working with the community to fight back and Save their Pub.
