Something for everyone at the Magdalen Road Christmas Fair
Organised by local people and co-ordinated by the St Leonards Neighbourhood Association, the Christmas Fair in Magdalen Road is now a very popular annual shopping and exciting event.
This "urban village" contains well established award winning purveyors of fine food, drink and gifts, as well as some exciting new shops on the block. Piprs Farm Butchers, Gibsons Plaice for fish and the exquisite Bon Goiut delicatessen are all well known and respected retailers, but quirky newcomers like Belgreen Cafe, Ian Smith Wines and Arriety retro haberdashers make Magdalen Road a unique location for shopping.
So why not visit this little oasis of fun and calm on 1 December when the road will be closed especially for the Christmas Fair for everyone to enjoy the craftspeople, toymakers, artists, cake-makers and other stall holders who will give the area a buzz. A marquee will help to provide lots to experience and because of the success of last year's event stallholders are queuing up to be included this year.
Fairground rides, tombola, raffle (raising funds for The West of England School & College) and entertainment from St Leonards Primary School. Festive songs will be provided during the afternoon by Exeter's own crooner Jerry Hart, and the Unversity's acapella group ' Semitoned' will be making sure everyone has a fantastic atmospheric time under the warm glow of the Christmas lights.
Father Christmas is hoping to meet lots of good children to give out goodies to those who visit his Grotto in the transformed Launderette.
Organised by local fundraiser Linda Baptist this special Grotto will help four chosen charities; FORCE, Devon Air Ambulance Trust, CLIC and the RSPCA.
So come along and find Christmas presents with a difference whilst enjoying a truly special community event.
The main fair is organised by St Leonards Neighbourhood Association with help from Waitrose, SWH, and Exeter City Council.
