Create and write solidarity cards for people suffering human rights abuses.

Amnesty International’s Write for Rights campaign sees thousands of letters and cards posted to support families affected and calls for justice for prisoners of conscience.

On 10th December, International Human Rights Day, artist Catherine Cartwright is running two creative card-making and writing workshops. Drop in and make one or many cards, write your messages of support and leave your donation to cover postage and materials.

Suggested donation £2 per card. Any surplus donations will be for Amnesty International.

We will send solidarity messages to the families of Kalpana Chakma (Bangladesh), Liu Ping (China), Yolanda Oqueli (Guatemala) and Chelsea Manning (USA). All are peaceful protesters jailed, disappeared or seriously injured for standing up for human rights.

These workshops are open to all though please note that Amnesty International recommend that case-information is suitable for ages 14+ years.

This isn’t a printmaking workshop but there will be the opportunity to pull a print from a pre-prepared screen
to make a card.

Space at Double Elephant is limited, so if it’s busy please be prepared to either squeeze in or return later in the session.
