Wind down and warm up at Castle Drogo

Pull on your wellies, wrap up warm and take a winter walk at Castle Drogo.

Beat the post-Christmas blues and enjoy the fresh air and spectacular views overlooking the Teign gorge.

There are miles of winding paths around the Castle Drogo estate for all abilities – from a gentle one mile circular walk at the top of the valley, looking out over Dartmoor and towards the ancient Whiddon deer park, to longer more strenuous walk, taking you down to the river and back up through the woodland full of crisp leaves. After a walk you have the perfect excuse to warm up with a mug of hot chocolate in the café, or choose from hearty meals on the warm up menu.

There’s plenty for children to do. They can pick up a winter spotter sheet to discover the animals that live at Castle Drogo or follow the trail around the garden and grounds to find out about New Year traditions around the world (Saturday 27 December-Sunday 4 January, 11am-4pm).
