Exeter Choral Society - a celebratory concert
The choir started as Whipton Choral Society in 1943, when Exeter was a garrison city, to provide entertainment and community involvement for locals and visting troops. The choir now has over 100 singers and continues to grow, regularly performing to packed audiences.
In May we'll be singing Handel's Coronation Anthems, including 'Zadok the Priest,' Mozart's Coronation Mass and Haydn's Missa brevis Sancti Johannis de Deo.
Our conductor Laurence Blyth is now in his 10th year as our Musical Director, and the orchestra will be led by Julie Hill. We welcome our soloists Julia Featherstone, Olivia Jane Gomez, Jonathan Lucas Wood and Matthew Cann.
Tickets at £12 include a programme and refreshments; available from Exeter Visitor Information & Tickets 01392 665885. Concessions for full-time students and under 16s. There will be a retiring collection for the local branch of the Samaritans.
Find out more about the choir's past, present and future at a special free exhibition for all ages on 13 October 2018 at St Stephen's Church, High Street, Exeter.
