Adoption Support Service wins 2018 Charity Governance Award
Families for Children are delighted to announce that we have been awarded of one of the prestigious Charity Governance Awards for 2018.
Families for Children were chosen from over 20 charities from across the UK each nominated to receive one of seven awards and a £5,000 unrestricted grant. All the shortlisted charities represented a diverse range of activities that include mental health care, family support, overseas aid, community sports programmes and post-natal care.
The winners were announced at a reception at London’s historic Clothworkers’ Hall on Thursday 24th May 2018. Families for Children were awarded winners in the Improving Impact – charities with 26+ paid staff category and received a grant.
The awards were attending by Charity CEO, Caroline Davis, Trustee, Roger Lake and Fundraiser, Antonia Poole.
Caroline comments, “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award and it’s an absolute privilege. We are thrilled because Governance is such an important area of our work at Families for Children and something we have developed over the years. We have worked hard to ensure diversity in skills of our board and are delighted to have been recognised for this.”
The Judges said of the Charity’s Atrium Adoption Support Service, “Families for Children has pioneered a new approach to holistic, long-term post-adoption support for families and children with proven results. The impact of this will be lifelong and transformational for the next generation.”
The Charity Governance Awards is an exciting not-for-profit initiative created to celebrate outstanding governance in charities both small and large.
The awards celebrate how effective governance makes a difference and by sharing examples of inspirational trustees and brilliant boards they show how great governance and doing good go hand-in-hand.
The awards are exclusively dedicated to charity governance. By shining a spotlight on the best of the sector, they demonstrate how effective governance can transform a charity and even more of the lives of its beneficiaries.
The Awards are organised by The Clothworkers’ Company – a City of London Livery Company that supports trusteeship initiatives – partnering with not-for-profit consultancy NPC (New Philanthropy Capital), volunteer matching charity Reach Volunteering, and recruitment specialists Prospectus.
