Families for Children new patron David Lawrence Jones visits Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park
Crealy Great Adventure Parks are celebrating their continued support of Families for Children with a visit from famed author David Lawrence Jones. Families from the charity were invited to come along to Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure to enjoy a day out and to meet the charity's new patron.
David Lawrence Jones said: “As a new patron for Families for Children, it was great to come and meet some of the adopted families. I first heard about the charity when I was doing a reading at Devon’s Crealy last November during their Halloweek and I have been keen to become involved with them ever since. It was only fitting that my first visit for the charity took place at Crealy.”
For the second year running, Crealy Great Adventure Parks have generously donated £7,500 worth of family passes to the adoptive families so their most in need children and teenagers can enjoy a day out. This includes their teenage Explorers Group and younger children who were enjoying a holiday away from their homes in Cornwall, Devon and Dorset.
Ally Colton, Fundraiser for Families for Children said: "The relationship with Crealy has been fantastic and we are so happy we are able to continue it. We are thrilled that David has agreed to be one of our patrons, especially as it is a very special year at Families for Children as we have had a record number of adoptions.”
Ally continued: “When larger families are adopted it is not always possible to keep the children together so we have had instances where siblings are able to come to Crealy and see their brothers and sisters and enjoy a day out together. It’s these stories that really make this relationship extra special.”
Chris Down, Chief Executive of Crealy Great Adventure Parks said, “We’re delighted to be able to continue to support Families for Children and welcome them to visit the Park. We’re looking forward to continue to build on the success of the past year.”
David Lawrence Jones will be reading again at this year’s Halloweek celebrations at Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park. Taking place during half term from Saturday 26th October to Saturday 2nd November, there will be fun for all the family with exciting games, a spooky magic show and a chance to meet the Crealy Witch in the ‘Land of Witches’. On Halloween itself, have the chance to meet the world’s friendliest ghost, Casper the Friendly Ghost who will be appearing at intervals throughout the day in the Show Dome.
Our finale Half Term weekend sees Roary the Racing Car Show zooming in on Saturday 2nd November to wow audiences both young and old where Big Chris will be trying to get him ready for the big race at Silver Hatch – but will he make it in time? On Sunday 3rd November, everyone is invited to enjoy the fantastic Firework Finale at 5.30pm where the skies above Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park will be spectacularly set alight with explosive rockets and whizzing sparkles. Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park members can enjoy free admission to this event.
