Police seek 4x4 driver after collision with pedestrian

Police are seeking a driver involved in a collision In Bovey Tracey which left an elderly pedestrian with serious leg injuries.

The collision between the 71-year-old woman and a dark-coloured 4x4 happened in Fore Street around 10.30am on Thursday 31 March.

The victim, from the Teignbridge area, was crossing the road near to the junction of Abbey Road, close to Lloyds Pharmacy, when the collision took place.

The male driver went to her assistance and put her in his vehicle, telling witnesses that he would take her home.

The woman was subsequently taken to the local health centre and the driver then left.  It was then discovered that the woman had sustained serious leg injuries and she was transferred to Torbay Hospital where she remains.

Police are now trying to locate the driver and are appealing for both witnesses and the motorist himself to come forward.
