Teignmouth Crash UPDATE

A woman who sustained head injuries following a crash on Exeter Road, in Teignmouth yesterday has been transferred to Derriford Hospital.

A female casualty was initially taken to Torbay Hospital after the vehicle she was travelling in crashed into a lampost just before 1pm on Friday 14th March.

Due to the severity of her injuries she has now been transferred to Derriford Hospital.

A police spokesman said:

" We recieved a report of a Road Traffic collision at Exeter Road in Teignmouth at 12.55pm. The car, a Black KIA Picanto, had crashed into a lampost resulting in two injuries. A male ( the driver) sustained only minor injuries whilst the female casualty suffered head injuries."

The incident caused distrubtion to drivers of Exeter Road and Police alerted local schools that parents might be delayed in collecting their children.

The road was clear between 5-5.30 pm on Friday 14th March.

Police described the woman's current condition as ' Stable but being monitored'.
