South West property developers Burrington Estates, who are building a new development of 25 high specification new two, three, four and five-bedroom homes in Clyst St George invited school children from Lady Seawards Primary School for an educational visit to their new development, Seaward Park, leading up to the highly anticipated show home opening this Saturday 4th March 10am-4pm.

Overall 40 school children made up of years 4, 5 and 6 pupils participated in a site tour, reviewed building methods, the importance of sustainability and learned about the different build stages. The children also got the opportunity to take part in a bricklaying demonstration and view the nearly completed show home prior to its opening this Saturday. Burrington Estates Head of Construction, Mike Crawford, and Site Manager, Marinko Tomic, led the groups throughout the day along with Head of Teaching and Learning, Simon Westwood.

Simon Westwood, Head of Teaching and Learning, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the team from Burrington Estates who provided our pupils with such a fantastic real life learning opportunity.

“The children were fortunate enough to learn about the importance of site safety as well as the different stages of house building. Some lucky pupils even got to try their hand at bricklaying under the tutorship of lead bricklayer Leyton!

“The children are now using this experience as a basis for their next piece of writing which will be a persuasive text promoting the new homes on sale located within Seaward Park!”

Burrington Estates had previously visited Lady Seawards School back in July 2016 to run a naming competition for the new development.

This engaged the children into learning about the history of the school and village and they received an important health and safety talk from Mike Crawford (Head of Construction) and Marinko Tomic (Site Manager) prior to construction work starting.

‘Seaward Park’ was the chosen winning name and five children were rewarded for their efforts.

The show home due to open this Saturday (4th March) from 10am-4pm, and there are only a homes left for sale.

The development is due to complete in Summer this year. The remaining homes are high in demand and expected to be reserved once the show home is open. Prices range from £420,000 to £595,000.
