Community Interest Company, Beach Schools South West won the accolade of Best Rural Educational Business at the prestigious finals event held by the Rural Business Awards at Bath Racecourse.

Works to replenish the rock revetment in front of Exmouth’s historic listed seawall were given the go ahead at a meeting of East Devon District Council on 25 July 2018.
The repairs to the revetment, which is adjacent to the recently completed Mamhead slipway, are required in response to a continual lowering of the estuary seabed in this location. The rock revetment, which was originally constructed in the 1970s, has become increasingly ineffective over the past ten years. The new attraction, which is being run by Taste of the West, has already attracted hundreds of visitors, keen to sample some of the tastiest produce from the region, in its first month of operation.

The East Devon seasonal dog ban is now in force. The ban covers all of the town beaches in East Devon, other than some designated areas on each beach.
Dog owners, visitors and walkers are reminded to check on the council website at http://eastdevon.gov.uk/dogs/ if they are not sure where they can take their dog.

The ever-popular deckchairs will be returning to Sidmouth seafront this week says East Devon District Council.
Following the surrender of the deckchair concession by the previous operator, the council’s property services team undertook a marketing exercise which attracted interest from a number of parties. The legal formalities have now been completed and the deckchairs will return to the seafront for the remainder of the 2017 season as well as the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
