M&S and The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) are calling on local people to roll up their sleeves and Spark Something Good in a week of volunteering that will positively impact 24 projects at the heart of the community in Exeter and Plymouth.
On Saturday 10 September, we are calling on volunteers to help us care for the sea and sea life in Plymouth by getting rid of unwanted beach rubbish and helping to prevent more rubbish on Batten Bay beach. While cleaning the beach, MCS will collect and record information that will aid their campaigns in the future and hopefully prevent or...

Teignbridge District Council has launched a new campaign ‘Don’t be a Dumper’ that aims to get people to pick up after their pooch and reduce the amount of dog mess that is left on the sands and seafront areas of local resorts.
Throughout this week (Monday February 1 to Friday February 5) Teignbridge’s resorts staff will be using glow in the dark temporary spray paint to mark dog mess on the promenade areas. Dog wardens will be out in force and will fine anyone who is seen not picking up. On Friday Feb 5 there will be a big clear up to remove what’s been left behind.

Over the last two months, the hole which measured around two metres, has opened up on a number of occasions on the beach near Orcombe Point. It usually happened after heavy rain.
Following a tip off from a member of the public, East Devon District Council engineers discovered a South West Water pipe deep under the sand and the contractors hope to be able to reach the pipe...
