Christow Pre-school is delighted to announce that their new Forest School site will officially be opened on Saturday 14th November by Peter Harper, Chairman of Dartmoor National Park.

The Open Day, running from 3-5pm, will provide the community with a great opportunity to explore the site, meet the teachers and find out more about Forest School and the benefits it can provide.

Digging into new ground in Christow

A unique development that will provide 18 affordable highly energy efficient homes in Dartmoor National Park, is about to start on-site.

The £3.6million project in Christow is being led by the Christow Community Land Trust (CCLT) and supported by Teign Housing, which has invested £574k and will manage the properties once built.

The popular Doddiscombsleigh Art Show 2013 will be exhibiting for sale the work of over 70 artists, predominantly from the South-West at its new location, the Teign Valley Community Hall in Christow.

The range of art on show is astonishing, from oil paintings to watercolours, pencil drawings, lino prints, ceramics, jewllery, etchings, collage, embroidery, remaker art and sculptures, both indoor and outdoor.

Local art goes to The Mall

The work of one of the artists featured in last year’s Local Art Show has been selected for an exhibition at the Mall Galleries in Central London and is in the running for the £30,000 Threadneedle Prize.

A book of etchings by Christow-based artist Jude Freeman was selected from over three and a half thousand works; several of the etchings were first displayed at The Royal Albert Memorial Musuem.

The exhibition runs from Wednesday 25 September to Saturday 12 October 2013, the shortlist for the award will be announced on Thursday 15 August and the winner announced on Tuesday...

Christow Primary selected for green initiative

Christow Primary School has been selected to take part in an exciting new national initiative to save energy and cut carbon emissions.

Christow is one of just 40 schools across the country selected to be a Solar School. This is a ground-breaking initiative that helps schools to cut carbon emissions, boost budgets and teach pupils about energy. The school is planning to raise over £6,000 this year to install solar panels on its roof.
