Crealy’s cutest residents prepare for Devon County Show

Some of Crealy’s much loved animal residents are preparing to scuttle and trot to the Devon County Show this May Bank Holiday weekend.

The South West’s Number 1 family attraction will host its marquee at the neighbouring venue, Westpoint.

Visitors to the show are invited to get up close to the Park’s favourite miniature Shetland mare and her foal and those brave enough will have the chance to handle hissing cockroaches, Indian stick insects and Giant African land snails from the Crealy Bugz Unlimited attraction. Young visitors to follow prize-winning duck at Devon County Show

A colourful Devon duck swam to the winning post and gained first prize in a children’s competition to design a mascot for this year’s Devon County Show on May 21-23 at Westpoint, Exeter.

Talented Annabel Pagliero, of Lady Seaward C of E Primary School, with her 'Devon Duck', beat nearly a hundred entries submitted by Lady Seward and Clyst St Mary primary schools.

The judges - Jon Williams from Farm Wise Devon, Josh Beadon from design company Toucan and Emma Watson, Show administrator – said the standard of entries was very high.

The short-listed entries for this year’s Devon Farm Business Awards paint a fascinating picture of a dynamic industry being led by the younger generation through a process of rapid development and change.

Princess Anne to visit Devon County Show

HRH The Princess Royal will attend the opening day of the Devon County Show on Thursday, May 21.

It will be Princess Anne’s first visit to the Devon County Show at Westpoint, Exeter; she visited the former showground at Whipton in the city in 1985.

During her visit she will be accompanied by David Parish, President of the Devon County Agricultural Association.

He said: “Her Royal Highness is a great champion for farming and rural issues just as the Devon County Show is also a terrific showcase for farming and rural life.”

Win a 'Fergie' with Mole Valley Farmers and EVRC

Three leading organisations in a North Devon village, who come together to improve the lives of local residents and visitors, have won this year’s Prince of Wales Award, which will be presented at the Devon County Show, May 21-23.

Swimbridge Jubilee Hall Committee, Parish Council and Parochial Church Council will jointly receive the accolade awarded by HRH The Prince of Wales, administered by Devon County Agricultural Association (DCAA), to recognise community sustainability initiatives in rural Devon.

Westcountry icons The Wurzels will be performing at the Devon County Show for the first time, entertaining exhibitors and invited guests at an exclusive event on the first day of the show.
