Devon County Show launches spring gift cards

For the first time the Devon County Show has launched Spring gift cards to celebrate the season and offer recipients a ‘big day out’ in May.

Tickets for the 121st Show on May 19, 20 and 21 at Westpoint, Exeter can be purchased inside a choice of two gift cards designed by a local artist.

Show Secretary Ollie Allen said: “These cards make a perfect present for family and friends at any time between now and May and, unlike Easter eggs, they are a lot less fattening!”

A leading South West law firm has launched a competition for talented bands in Devon – with the winner to play a slot at the Devon County Show in May this year. Stephens Scown LLP is hosting a hospitality evening at the County Show on 19 May this year, which is due to be attended by 400 guests. A well-known band (yet to be announced) will be headlining on the evening. Community organisations across Devon are being reminded that they have just a further three weeks in which to enter the Prince of Wales award, and with it the chance of winning £1,000 to boost their funds.

The Prince of Wales Award is offered annually by the Devon County Agricultural Association for community initiatives in Devon aimed at boosting local sustainability.

Awards call goes out to Devon farmers

Farmers across Devon are being reminded that they have until February 26 to nominate their friends, neighbours and local farming heroes for this year’s Devon Farm Business Awards, staged by the Addington Fund, Devon County Agricultural Association and Stephens Scown Solicitors.

There are six categories for which farmers can enter or be nominated: best commercial farmer, best dairy farmer, best woman in farming, The John Neason Farm Diversification Award, Devon’s farming champion and best young farmer.

Devon County Show tickets go on sale

This year’s Devon County Show on May 19th, 20th and 21st promises to be an ‘entertainment extravaganza’.

Show Secretary Ollie Allen said there will be an eclectic mix of stunning arena attractions livestock competitions and local food and drink.

Community projects invited to apply for award

Community organisations across Devon are being invited to apply for the 2016 Prince of Wales Award, organised by the Devon County Agricultural Association on behalf of HRH the Prince of Wales to recognise small scale projects geared to local sustainability.

A Devon County Show steward is preparing to embark on a 200-mile charity cycle ride from the showground in Exeter to London on Monday (December 7), to raise money to develop a new rural hub.

The Devon County Show has Christmas wrapped up this year as it launches festive gift tickets for the first time today (Tuesday, December 1).
