East Devon residents call on Devon CPRE to help them fend off solar on farmland

Villagers of Marsh Green in East Devon have made an urgent appeal to the Devon branch of the countryside charity CPRE to help them fight an alarming planning application for a solar farm that they fear would destroy hundreds of acres of productive land and increase the risk of their homes flooding.

New anonymous digital mental health support service launched across Devon

A new free and confidential digital mental health and wellbeing service for adults is now available across Devon, Plymouth and Torbay.

Qwell (www.qwell.io), delivered by mental health provider Kooth , will ensure that every adult living in the Devon has access to a choice of support to managing their own emotional health and wellbeing.

NHS Devon, working in partnership with Devon, Plymouth and Torbay Councils, has commissioned Qwell to provide all adults aged 18+ with free, anonymous, confidential digital mental health support.

Residents and visitors to Devon are being reminded that if they have an urgent health issue this summer they can access medical advice online or by phone 24 hours a day at NHS111 .

Anyone contacting 111 who needs emergency medical care from a hospital Emergency Department (also known as A&E) will be given direct access to the department. Staff at NHS111 can also refer patients through to Minor Injuries Units and Urgent Treatment Centres. This will ensure that people get to the right place for treatment quickly and may reduce their waiting times.

Molly Walkers, a resident at RMBI Care Co. Home Cadogan Court, in Exeter, has recently celebrated her 102nd birthday. To mark the special event, Molly was presented with birthday cards and flowers from family and friends, and the Home’s staff decorated her room for the occasion.

Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) is proud to reach a huge milestone this Summer as 30 years of lifesaving service are to be celebrated at two family-friendly events, the first of which was held on July 10th at Bideford Rugby Football Club and the second will be held at Darts Farm near Topsham on Saturday 13 August.

Seaside entertainment featuring puppets, magic and songs will return to Devon’s beaches, promenades and quaysides this summer thanks to apprenticeships helping to keep traditional performance forms alive and well through training emerging local artists.
