The Heart of the South West LEP (HotSW) has appointed Frazer-Nash Consultancy to undertake a feasibility study into the potential for smart and sustainable aviation and aerospace testing and demonstration facilities within the Heart of the South West (Devon and Somerset).

The HotSW is a business-led partnership between the private sector, local authorities, universities and colleges, which aims to raise productivity and ensure prosperity for all through clean and inclusive growth.

Arts and Culture University of Exeter is inviting applications from creative practitioners for a Creative Fellowship that will run March-June 2022. This will be a 4-5 week exploratory placement, working in an interdisciplinary context. Around 18% of UK based runners run for mental health benefits above all else, according to a new study revealed by Runners Need , with 26% of Brits running to maintain a healthy weight.

After a tense year and a half, running can provide a productive way to let off steam and stay healthy. Exeter Valley Park set for upgrade

A Devon-based conservation charity is set to make ‘substantial’ improvements to one of Exeter’s most beautiful green spaces.

Barley Valley Park – one of six Valley Parks in Exeter managed by Devon Wildlife Trust on behalf of their owners, Exeter City Council – will undergo a series of improvements this spring to improve access for local people and other visitors.

Debbie Coles is a nursing degree apprentice from Exeter studying at the University of Plymouth’s Exeter School of Nursing. Joining the NHS in 2003, she worked her way up through diplomas and, after 10 years as an assistant practitioner, applied for the registered nurse degree apprenticeship via Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust. Novavax COVID-19 vaccine researched in the South West approved in UK by MHRA

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has authorised Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine for use in the UK.

This follows rigorous clinical trials supported by National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and a thorough analysis of the data by experts at the MHRA, which has concluded that the vaccine has met its strict standards of safety, quality and effectiveness.

250,000 adults in the South West whose mental health got worse during the pandemic have not spoken to anyone about it

Nearly one in five adults surveyed in the South West (17 per cent) who say their mental health got worse during the pandemic haven’t spoken to anyone about it during this time – equivalent to around 250,000 people – according to research published today. More than a third (38 per cent) of all respondents in the South West reported a worsening in their mental health during the pandemic. Of those who have been concerned about the mental health of someone they care about, almost one in five (19 per cent) say they haven’t tried to talk to them about it.
