Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) regularly receives slightly unusual donations from the community but this week sees one of the most unusual. Flybe plane makes emergency landing

A Flybe plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Paris on Saturday due to “minor technical” difficulties.

The service from the Exeter-based airline was returning skiers from Geneva to Cardiff when the flight was forced to land at Paris Orly international at around 4pm (January 4).

On landing fire crews treated the plane’s left engine with hoses and passengers were unloaded from the plane.

All 68 passengers were unhurt and taken on a later flight from Paris to Cardiff

Devon’s NHS 111 service to launch in September

Devon’s two clinical commissioning groups (CCG) have taken the decision to delay the launch of the NHS 111 service so they can learn from other areas where the service already operates to make sure people in Devon get the best possible service.

NHS Direct will continue to provide a service in Devon until NHS 111 goes live.

It will mean Devon will be one of the last areas in the country to launch the NHS 111 service.

Hard working Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) staff got a treat recently from local company Therapy Works South West, who came in to demonstrate their seated acupressure massage in the work place scheme. Each member of staff was treated to 30 minutes of treatment which combines warming and loosening strokes (to back, neck and arms) with pressure point work (to back, forearms and hands). GP leaders today (Thursday, 28 March 2013) called for Sir David Nicholson, Chief Executive of the NHS Commissioning Board, to delay the launch of NHS 111 as the crisis affecting the system threatens to put patient safety at risk.

Emergency crews at full stretch as storms batter the region

Emergency crews were at full stretch as wind and torrential rain battered the region last night.

There has been significant disruption to the road network affecting both local and main roads.

The A38 where it meets the M5 was badly affected by surface water and the A377 west of Cowley Bridge was impoassable early today.

Residents of a nursing home at Cullompton were evacuated as a precaution due to high water levels.

The Mill on the Exe pub was also flooded and landlord John Milan was interviewed on Sky News. He said the water had risen by 15 feet.
