Food charity, FareShare South West , has announced that it will now support 5 organisations across Devon & Cornwall with emergency food support in response to the impact of Coronavirus.

FareShare South West, an independent franchise of FareShare UK, take in-date, good quality surplus food on scale from right across the food industry and redistribute it to more than 260 partner charities and settings who support the most vulnerable. Deliveroo and M&S have today announced that customers can now order an expanded M&S Food range on the Deliveroo app, via the Exeter store.

This announcement follows the launch of more than 100 M&S BP Franchise stores in March.

Free meals for Exeter residents in need

EXETER Communities Together CIC is running a hardship relief project for those facing a tough time due to the Coronavirus / COVID-19 pandemic. It is delivering free meals to the elderly, vulnerable, key workers or those struggling financially. Meal requests should be made between 11am and 3pm and volunteers will deliver the food, by arrangement, the next day. Seagulls favour food that has been handled by humans, new research shows.

Herring gulls were presented with two identical food items – one of which they had seen a human holding.

The gulls pecked more often at the handled food, suggesting they use human actions when deciding what to eat.

The University of Exeter study follows previous research which found that staring at seagulls makes them less likely to steal food.

Lidl GB has announced that it will be holding a public consultation day to outline plans for its new store on Pinhoe Road/Venny Bridge, Exeter.
