This is Exeter's first ever Etsy Made Local market. Taking place at Exeter Phoenix on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December, it is part of a national event that will see the biggest regional spread of markets across the UK take part. In total 54 cities across the UK will celebrate the makers, designers and collectors that sell on Etsy.com, the online marketplace for handmade and vintage goods. It’s about encouraging people to look locally for this year’s Christmas gifting and connecting them to more than 40 South West Devon based makers and designers.
The annual Russian Christmas Fayre organised by the Exeter Yaroslavl Twinning Association (EYTA) will take place in the Guildhall, High Street, Exeter on the morning of Saturday, 9th December from 10am to 1pm. Each year a two-way exchange visit takes place between the two cities.

Police seeking witnesses after a large amount of jewellery was taken from an Exmouth home.
Offenders got inside the property in Valley Way sometime between 10.30am on Tuesday 24 January and 12.30pm on Thursday 26 January.
They made an untidy search of the premises before stealing around 40 items of jewellery including some antique items of huge sentimental value.
Among the items stolen were a 100-year-old 18ct gold ring with diamonds and an 18ct pearl and amethyst ring which is around 70-years-old, plus a very old garnet bracelet and set of garnet earrings.
Police are investigating a distraction burglary in Exeter where two men posed as council workmen to steal precious jewellery from an elderly woman.
The two men, who were wearing green jackets and white hard hats, called at the woman’s home in Laburnum Road, shortly after 11am on Friday [6 January].
They claimed they were from the council and asked to go into the house to look at areas of the property. One of the bogus workmen distracted the woman by asking for a drink while the other man went upstairs.

Police are appealing for information after items of jewellery were stolen from a house in Beech Park in the West Hill area of Ottery St Mary.
The burglary happened between 8.45am on Friday 26 May and 2.30pm on Sunday 29 May while the occupants were away on holiday. A glazed rear door of the property was smashed using a long handled axe.
Police are advising members of the public to ensure that gardening tools and items such as ladders which could be used to assist offenders in gaining access to a property are properly secured at all times.
Police in Exmouth are investigating a burglary that occurred in the Salterton Road area on the evening of Saturday 14 May 2016 between 10pm and 11pm.
A number of wrist watches, jewellery and cash were stolen from the property.
The watches and jewellery are distinctive and of high value. Police are asking anyone who has been offered for sale any of the items listed below, or anyone who has seen anyone with such items, to contact them.
Local auction houses, antique dealers and jewellers are asked to be especially vigilant.
