Topsham Library opens to the public

Topsham Library is now open to the public in its new temporary home.

The library has been temporarily relocated to the Nelson Close Community Centre whilst a new Community Hub, which will include a new library space, is built on the former library site by the Estuary League of Friends.

The Library won’t be able to offer WiFi or access to public PC’s initially, but these services should resume by the end of June.

Libraries Unlimited celebrates first successful year

The charity responsible for running Devon’s library services has celebrated its first successful year.

Supervisors, centre managers, trustees and management at Libraries Unlimited came together at a strategic development day on April 25th to celebrate the charity’s first birthday.

Libraries Unlimited was officially launched on 23rd April last year after being commissioned by Devon County Council to run Devon Libraries, including 50 public libraries, four mobile libraries and three prison libraries.

Bampton residents celebrate opening of new library

Bampton residents and library staff were joined by Julie Dent CBE, Chair of Libraries Unlimited and local MP for Tiverton and Honiton Neil Parish, as they celebrated the successful relocation and official opening of the new Bampton Library on Thursday 6th April.

The library moved into its new, spacious and bright location within the Library and Resource Centre, Old Schoolroom, Bampton last month.

Exeter Authors Association is holding a book celebration as part of CredFest17 on 17th June from 2-5pm at Crediton Library.

Exeter Library’s FabLab is hosting a programme of hands-on digital making events and workshops, specifically designed for children and young people.

Topsham Library relocates to make way for bespoke new building

Topsham Library will temporarily relocate to the Nelson Close Community Centre in Topsham to make way for a brand new community hub.

The new ‘Community Hub’ is being built by Estuary League of Friends following a successful funding bid to the Big Lottery Fund and fundraising efforts by the charity, reaching a total of £1.95million. On completion, the hub will comprise of a day centre room, community café, exercise and fitness space, two treatment rooms, a laundry, meeting/training room, serviced offices and improved library facilities.

Exeter builders merchant helping libraries with materials giveaway

With libraries across the county being subjected to funding cuts, RGB Building Supplies is inviting them to apply for £1,000 worth of materials as part of its Well Built Community Fund.
