Appeal for witnesses to Kenton crash

A man has been seriously injured following a collision in Kenton on Friday 5 January 2018.

The incident happened at approximately 6.20pm on unclassified road near Black Forest Lodge in Kenton and involved an Isuzu pick-up vehicle.

The vehicle collided with trees resulting in the driver, a man in his 30s, becoming trapped in the vehicle.

Ambulance, Police and Specialist Fire and Rescue crews attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries.

Over £30,000 raised by police force to benefit charities

Over the last three years, officers and staff across Devon & Cornwall Police have participated in and organised fundraising activities which have benefitted both local and national charities.

The funds, now totalling over £30,000, were raised in a wide variety of ways, from the purchase of epaulettes, to charity bake sales and even a ‘guess the weight of the ferret’ competition. This is, of course, only part of the charitable endeavours of colleagues who both on and off duty raise huge sums for local and national charities.

Appeal after serious crash close to Devon border

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a serious collision near Bridport in Dorset, 12 miles from the east Devon border.

At 8.23am yesterday (Sunday 17 December 2017) a three-vehicle collision occurred on the A35 at Morcombelake involving a silver Citroen C3, a silver BMW 320 convertible and a silver Vauxhall Astra.

The road was closed for several hours to allow collision investigators to carry out a full and thorough examination of the scene.

Armed officers to patrol key festive locations across Devon

Police in Devon, Cornwall and Dorset will be patrolling key locations and events over the festive period and the New Year with support from armed officers.

Specials join forces for police operation at busy Exeter level crossing

Special police officers from British Transport Police and Devon and Cornwall Police joined forces for a level crossing and driving offences operation at Exeter St David’s railway station on Friday (8 December).

The operation was entirely planned and organised by Special Constables from both British Transport Police and Devon and Cornwall Police, who support their community by volunteering.

Tribute paid to teenagers who died after collapsing in Plymouth nightclub

Tributes have been paid to teenagers Aaron Reilly and Joshua Brock who both tragically died after collapsing in Pryzm nightclub in Plymouth.

Police were informed by ambulance at around 1.40am on Saturday 9 December of two men unconscious at Pryzm nightclub in Plymouth. Aaron and Josh, both 19-years-old later died at hospital.

Van owners to be extra vigilant after spate of thefts

Police in North and West Devon are warning van owners to be extra vigilant following a spate of van thefts in North Devon.

Over the last few weeks there have been several thefts of tools and other trade equipment which have been left in vans. Officers are advising the public not to leave their tools and equipment for prolonged periods in their vans, especially overnight.

The first incident occurred between Sunday 3 December at 10.30am and 8am on Monday 4 December 2017. The incident took place on North Street in Braunton.

Nearly 600 firearms handed in to police during amnesty

Nearly 600 firearms were handed in to Devon and Cornwall Police during the firearms and ammunition surrender which ran from 13 – 26 November this year.

The campaign, instigated by the National Ballistics Intelligence Service (NABIS), was supported by other forces around the country, including Dorset Police.

Items voluntarily surrendered at police enquiry offices across the force area totalled:

Steer clear of alcohol and drugs if you’re driving this Christmas

Throughout December Devon and Cornwall Police will be making sure that the region’s roads are a safe place for everyone.

The annual Christmas operation to stop people driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, through awareness raising and rigorous enforcement, is under way.

Any drivers involved in a collision and any motorists whose driving may lead police to suspect they are under the influence of alcohol will be breathalysed. If drug driving is suspected, drivers can also be tested at the roadside using a mouth swab device.

Police appeal to catch Exeter arsonist

Police have released footage of a man they wish to identify following a number of deliberate fires in Exeter.

Police are investigating 14 incidents that they currently believe are linked, which have taken place in and around Exeter since August.
