Paignton pier is to be sold off for around £1.8m by current owners. The pier is currently owned by Mitchell Leisure Investments, who have operated the stores and arcade on the pier since 1994. In this time the company has spent more than £1.8m investing in the pier including an extension of the arcade and a restoration of the pier’s open decking. Lloyds Banking Group's sale of more than 600 branches to the Co-operative Group has collapsed.
Europe had been forcing Lloyds to sell the branches after its taxpayer bailout during the 2008 financial crisis.
But it is understood the Co-op has struggled to plug a £1billion gap needed to complete its takeover.
Lloyds chief executive Antonio Horta-Osorio said he was 'disappointed' that the Co-op could not complete the purchase, which was mooted to be worth around £750 million.

Headway Devon are holding a second-hand book sale at our offices in Exeter to raise money for local people with brain injuries.
The sale will take place on Wednesday 17th April from 2pm-7.30pm and offers a great range of modern and classic fiction, non-fiction and autobiography, cookery and children's books.
Teas, coffees and homemade biscuits will also be available to buy.
