Toads Stage Musical Company, who are presenting one of the first amateur productions of Legally Blonde there, from 23-27 June 2015, are looking for two dogs - a Chihuahua, or similar type, to play Bruiser, (the leading lady - Elle Woods’ dog) and also an interesting, characterful large dog, to play hairdresser Paulette's dog, Rufus.

Auditions will be on the stage to enable director Ruth Bettesworth to see how the dogs react to...

#RU2drunk pilot could be expanded

The success of a police pilot project in Torquay where doormen at licensed premises breathalysed suspected drunks could see the scheme implemented across Devon and Cornwall.

#RU2drunk was piloted in 23 of Torquay’s key nightspots during December to see if it helped reduce alcohol fuelled incidents and it resulted in a 39 per cent drop in violent crime.

Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg, who funded the pilot, has described the results as ‘startling’.

Godspell, Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz’ legendary rock musical is back.

Work starts on Decoy Link Road

Galliford Try has been awarded the £2.6 million contract to build the scheme which will widen and realign the existing Kingskerswell Road, and create a signal controlled crossing over the rail bridge. It will also improve safety along the busy route for pedestrians and cyclists, with a new shared cycleway and footway.

The scheme, which was awarded £1.8 million of Department for Transport Local Pinch Point funding, will join the South Devon Link Road at the Aller interchange.

Stagecoach confirms Boxing Day buses

Stagecoach South West confirmed today that it will be operating Boxing Day bus services on key routes across Exeter, East Devon and Torbay.

For anyone wishing to travel into and around Exeter the following services will be running:

  • Red Park & Ride will run a Sunday timetable, with the last bus from Honiton Road at 1718 and the last bus from the city centre at 1736. Buses will show ‘M2’ on the destination blind to serve all stops along the Pinhoe Road route
  • Route ‘A’ will run a Sunday timetable. The last bus from Alphington will be at 1721, the last bus

Police appeal to trace wanted man

Police in Torbay have issued a photograph of a man who is wanted for recall to prison. They are actively looking for Gary Ward, 32 years old, from Torquay who is wanted for recall to prison after breaching his prison licence conditions. Ward is described as a white male, 32 years of age, 5’ 9” or slim build with short black hair. Ward, who was convicted of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving, is believed to be in the Exeter area. He also has links to Torbay and Ilfracombe. Officers are proactively following a number of lines of enquiry to ascertain his whereabouts and intend to arrest him...
