Exeter-based mortgage broker, The Mortgage Quarter has launched its annual Christmas charity gift appeal, which this year will support seven local charities.

Now in its fourth year, The Mortgage Quarter is widening its campaign this year and calling on local residents and businesses to donate brand-new women's and children's clothes and gifts as well as toys.

Three teams of intrepid adventurers from Exeter-based housebuilder Wain Homes hiked more than 20 miles in one day across the three highest hills of the Peak District, raising £12,000 for a youth charity.

Wain Homes contributed the registration fees for 13 employees to take on the sponsored challenge of climbing 1,300m up Kinder Scout, Bleaklow and The Black Hill. The walk is an epic adventure which covers the wildest and most remote areas of the Peak District National Park.

The local group of volunteers and four-legged fundraisers are joining together with 400+ groups from across the UK to bring everyone some much needed cheer this December.

From 1st to 12th December Guide Dogs will be featuring 12 of their amazing fundraising dogs on the ‘12 Guide Dogs of Christmas Advent Calendar’ and they’re hoping everyone will support them. A charity supporting older people and helping them receive groceries and essential medication has been awarded £1,000 from a regional builder’s charity fund.

Guide Dogs Exeter Fundraising group praised for reaching £13,000 milestone

Local fundraisers in Exeter have won recognition for reaching the 13,000 milestone that funds a Guide Dog partnership twice in one year. Earlier this year the Exeter & District Fundraising Group funded guide dog Winter to help a person with sight loss, and now they’ve done it again with guide dog Gucci.

As a result of reaching the £13,000 milestone, the group have been able to fund a working partnership between guide dog Gucci and a person with sight loss.
