RGB Building Supplies has joined forces with Radio Exe to recognise the county’s apprentices and is encouraging companies from all sectors to nominate in the Devon Outstanding Apprentice award.

In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, which runs from 8th to 14th February, RGB and Radio Exe are looking for apprentices who perhaps go the extra mile, have a great attitude, make an invaluable contribution to a company, or simply produce brilliant work.

One nominee will be named the winner and will receive £200 to spend on Exeter High Street, as well as £200 to spend...

Radio Exe will be joining Children’s Hospice South West’s Westpoint Rainbow Run this year. This great family event takes place on Saturday 10th June at its brand new location at the fabulous Westpoint Arena. Radio Exe celebrates best ever listening figures

Exeter, Mid and East Devon commercial radio station Radio Exe has just received its highest ratings.

Independent figures published today by Rajar/Ipsos MORI/BMRB show that 29,000 people tune to the station each week and they’re listening for longer. It

means that station has now overtaken two national stations, Classic FM and BBC 5 Live, to achieve its highest share of listening in the area.

Third economic well-being survey launched

Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, today launches its third economic well-being survey.

The survey, in partnership with the Express and Echo, Radio Exe, Exeter City Council and Exeter Chamber of Commerce, will highlight the current financial and employment situation in Exeter. It will help Citizens Advice Exeter to highlight trends with policy-makers and to further tailor their advice and information resources to meet the needs of local people.

Small businesses take to the streets

Owners of small businesses across Exeter took to the streets in a specially-commissioned open top bus to spread their ‘shop local’ message to Christmas shoppers.

Stagecoach South West’s open top bus drove around the shopping areas on the outskirts of the city collecting owners of small businesses. They were taken to the Exeter Phoenix where they took part in a debate with MP Ben Bradshaw and city councillor Rosie Denham about the issues affecting them in Exeter.

Following a successful pilot show, Judi Spiers begins a new series on Exeter’s independent station Radio Exe every Sunday in November starting on Sunday 8 November.

As well as Radio Exe’s famously broad mix of music, the three-hour weekly show will feature special guests, Judi’s unique brand of humour and conversation, and the chance to win a £100 Princesshay Gift Card each week.

The announcement comes as BBC Radio Devon’s audience (on which Judi used to present a popular show) has plummeted to its lowest level for more than two decades.

Thank You Exeter! More than 100 local businesses, schools and organisation took part in our Bring a £1 Day.

You may have seen our fundraising team at Princesshay, wearing our new logo t-shirts and standing by our giant big pink collecting hat, kindly made by Brightsea Printers.

Lots of people said hello and donated a £1 and some local businesses came by to pop their staff collection into our Hospiscare hat. Children were intrigued to peer into the hat. Radio Exe and singer Jimmy Ireland joined us during the day to liven up the event.

Join Exeter Hospiscare's Bring a £1 Day

Join more than 60 Exeter businesses, schools and organisations who are taking part in Hospiscare’s big fundraising event, Bring a £1 Day, on Friday October 9.

They are all keen to support the local charity which last year cared for 632 terminally ill Exeter patients and their families, with 473 people being visited in their own homes by Hospiscare nurses and 164 local people were admitted to the hospice.

Hospiscare is calling on local people to collect their £1 coins and bring them to Princesshay to put them in a giant pink collection hat.
