All About the Piano
A concert that explores the varied roles of the piano in performance. Our programme features the piano as the extravagant soloist and the submissive accompanist, heard live in the room, through a distorted cassette recorder and through a humble teapot. The piano will also tell the story of our concert venue as a living electrical organism in a fascinating exploration of the hidden sounds around us.
Featuring new music by Emma Welton and Nicholas Peters alongside old(er) music by Alvin Lucier and Gerald Barry.
Performed by Alex Wilson (piano), with support from Emma Welton (violin) and Nicholas Peters (trumpet)
£5, tickets available on the door.
With grateful thanks to the Exeter & District Classical Music Trust for their support.
