Cygnet Theatre announces 2022 scholarships in partnership with The Stage

Cygnet Theatre is thrilled to be taking part in the 2022 scholarship scheme organised by national industry newspaper The Stage.

The Stage Scholarships scheme has now been running for more than 30 years, but this is only the second time Cygnet Theatre has partnered with them to offer this fantastic opportunity to potential students. After a huge number of entries in 2021, we have decided to open the scholarship up to two potential students for a 50% scholarship, worth £3,750 each.

Actors help pupils make healthy choices

An innovative programme pioneered by Exeter academics which brings actors into the classroom to encourage and support children to make healthier choices on diet and exercise has been selected to feature in this week’s British Science Festival.

Cygnet Theatre to host summer course for budding actors

Budding actors ( over the age of 18) are being given the opportunity to attend a fantastic five day course at the Cygnet Theatre.

The course will explore voice, scene work, character development, movement and improvisation leading to an informal showing of work in progress on the final afternoon.

This is an introduction to the types of work undertaken in vocational training. There will be an opportunity to audition for the Cygnet Company to anyone interested.

The course will take place between the dates of: Monday 4th August – Friday 8th August

Newton Abbot writer/director, Luke Jeffery, 22, has been commissioned to make his film Seeing Red by Exeter Phoenix as part of their Devon Short Film Commission scheme, and is currently auditioning actors and crew.

Set in the 1960s, the surreal comedy is about a straight-laced wedding photographer who is prescribed LSD in a misguided attempt to cure his colour blindness, and will be filmed in and around Exeter and Newton Abbot. Participants needed for The Day We Played Brazil

Exeter Community Arts Project is searching for 120 people aged from 11 to 99 to make and perform The Day We Played Brazil, the new musical play which is set to be the biggest cultural event in Exeter for many years.
