Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, which has a rehoming centre in Ilfracombe has teamed up with some of the nation’s most famous faces to launch their iconic campaign, ‘A Dog is For Life, Not Just For Christmas’, following a year of ludicrous excuses offered up by dog owners when giving up their pets to Dogs Trust.
Staff at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe were particularly surprised to hear a member of the public explain they no longer wanted their dog because he wasn’t housetrained.

Local enforcement teams and their sniffer dogs will take to the streets of Exeter on Monday (19 October) to ask for the public’s help in tackling the sellers of illegal tobacco.
Currently over 100,000 people in Devon smoke, and around 3% of these buy illegal tobacco. Illegal tobacco is known to make it easier for children to start smoking, as it is sold at cheap prices, and is also known to make communities more attractive to criminals, who can have links to organised crime.

East Devon District Council is doggedly continuing to encourage responsible pet ownership in the district.
Following a successful series of annual dogs’ days out, where owners and their best friends could enjoy a social gathering whilst learning more about getting the most from their pets, the council’s environmental health team has produced an occasional newsletter covering many aspects of dog ownership.
And to celebrate the launch of The Daily Wag, the council has donated some of the proceeds of the doggie events to two charities that care for and re-home unwanted animals...
