Exmouth RNLI rescue spaniel Missy after cliff fall

On 19 July at 3pm, Brixham coastguard tasked the charity’s inshore lifeboat, George Bearman after a call from a member of the public. A dog had fallen from a cliff, close to the Geoneedle at Orcombe point.

Missy, a black spaniel was on a walk with her owner’s relative when she ran towards the cliff edge. Missy, who was on holiday from Leicestershire, fell 50m onto the sandy beach below as high tide was approaching. RNLI crew volunteers Scott Ranft, Roger Jackson and Helmsman, Ian Taylor located the dog within six minutes after launching.

Come along to Little Valley's Annual Shelter Day and Fun Dog Show. Gates open at 11am and the event runs till 4pm. There are refreshments, home made cakes, a bar with Pimms, BBQ, dog agility, stalls including plants, books, jewellery, bric-a-brac, jigsaws as well as fun and games and a grand prize draw. The weather forecast is good too! All money raised from this event goes directly to your local animal shelter, Little Valley. We are easy to find - just past Pocombe Bridge. Entry is £1 for adults, 50p for children and under 5's go free. We look forward to seeing you there.

Wilberforce, a seven year old Labrador Retriever, belonging to Neil Parish, MP for Tiverton and Honiton, just missed out on a place on the podium in the 22nd annual Westminster Dog of the Year competition.

The competition, organised by the Kennel Club and Dogs Trust, took place on Thursday (23rd October), in Victoria Tower Gardens, Westminster. Wilberforce showed dogged determination as he battled it out amongst 21 paw-litical opponents. RSPCA Little Valley Shelter Day & Fun Dog Show

It's that time of year again! It's time for the annual Shelter Day and Fun Dog Show at RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter, based just outside Exeter past Swains Garage at Pocombe Bridge.

Sadly, due to the bad weather last year's event was postponed and eventually cancelled. Lucily, this year, the weather forecast looks great for Sunday so it's all systems go!

Missing elderly man rescued by police dog in Wadebridge

Police dog Eddie and his handler, Police Constable Colin Harper located a vulnerable, elderly missing man this morning in the Wadebridge area. The man aged 90 years had been reported missing by his wife at 6.50pm yesterday evening after he failed to return from a walk. He was last seen at 2.00pm when he set off on his walk on the Camel trail. Following a search he was located at around 10.50am this morning lying in a field.
