'All Cisterns Go' for Marathon World Record Attempt

Devon firm AndyLoos has given the ‘all cisterns go’ ahead for amateur athlete Marcus Mumford to attempt to set a Guinness world record for running the London Marathon in the fastest time dressed as a toilet!

But Marcus will need to ensure he’s quick out of the ‘toilet’ blocks as there will be two other runners dressed as WCs also attempting to break the world record.

Charity run organisers call for sponsors

The region’s largest corporate charity run is calling for sponsors to boost its fund-raising for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Michelmores Charity Run, which is now in its 15th year, attracts over 1000 runners and now raises in excess of £30,000 each year for its chosen charity.

The run takes place over a 5K city centre course which starts on Cathedral Yard and finishes at Exeter Castle.

Man with previously damaged knees plans marathon walk

Allan Worthington, originally from Plymouth, could not dream of being a sportsman when his knees were damaged in a road collision. But now he has two new knees thanks to the work of surgeons at the South West Knee Clinic at the Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital and is planning a 16 hour marathon walk with his family!

Schools’ Challenge gets Devon’s children running

Primary schools from Exeter and North Devon will be taking part in Exeter’s Great West Run on Sunday 13 October, as part of the Schools’ Challenge.

The Schools’ Challenge encourages children to achieve a half marathon distance over 6 weeks, with the final mile run on the home straight of the Half Marathon course, shortly after the main race begins.

Three dead and over 140 injured in explosions at Boston Marathon finish line

Update 16 April: Three people have been killed, including an eight-year-old boy and more than 140 others hurt after two bombs exploded during the Boston Marathon. Officials say that at least 17 people are critically wounded and the injuries include several amputations.
