A 42-year-old man, who was involved in a two vehicle Road Traffic Collision at 0548hrs this morning (Tuesday 22nd January 2013), has died of his injuries at Derriford Hospital. His next of kin have been informed.
The incident occured on the A38 Parkway, Eastbound between the Manadon off slip and Forder Valley on slip. The two vehicles involved in the collision were a Ford Fiesta and a Toyota Avensis. At the time of the collision the road surface was icy, following a recent hail storm.

On the roads around Exeter, there are reports of flooding on the A377 at Cowley Hill, Cowley, near the St Andrew's Road junction.
Hazardous driving conditions have also been reported on the A380 Telegraph Hill in Ashcombe after the B3192 junction, because of ice, rain and reduction in visibility.

Renewed National Bus Passes will be issued across Devon from next month. Devon County Council is re-issuing around 175,000 passes direct to registered addresses in the county without residents needing to re-apply, ahead of the deadline of 31 March.

Essential work to address persistent drainage and subsidence problems in Exeter’s High Street is scheduled to start next week, Wednesday 16th January until Thursday 28 March.
New work, to be completed before Easter, will see new gullies and pipework installed along the length of the road from Queen Street to Broadgate.

Overnight closures are planned on the A30 westbound from Daisymount Junction to the junction of the A30/C832 near M5 Junction 29 later this month.
The closures will be over five consecutive nights from Monday 21 to Friday 25 January from 8pm to 6am to enable overhead gantry signs to be replaced over the westbound A30.

Rail, maritime and transport union RMT announced today that the organisation has continued to increase its membership in the past twelve months in the teeth of the most savage attacks on jobs and working conditions for a generation.
Membership figures released by the union today show that RMT has put on a net gain of 1,456 members through 2012, taking the total to 77,549 – an annual growth of nearly 2% in the most challenging circumstances.
The union has increased its membership year-on-year from the 59,277 total when General Secretary Bob Crow was elected in 2002.
