Ticket-holders for Radio 1's Big Weekend at Powderham Castle near Exeter have just six days left from today (Monday May 16) to book their transport in advance of the event.

Festival-goers have until May 21 to pre-book transport that’s been specially laid on for the event.

Park and rides, shuttle buses and drop-off/pick-up points have been arranged to get people safety to and from Powderham while ensuring minimum impact on residents and those who may be visiting the area to enjoy the long weekend in this part of Devon.

Residents and commuters could win an ipad if they share their travelling habits to help inform a pioneering project to cut congestion in Exeter.

The results of the online survey, which went live on Monday 2 May 2016, will help transport experts devise ways to cut traffic congestion in and around the City and improve the daily commute.

Those taking part in the online survey will be entered into a prize draw.

It is all part of the Engaged Smart Transport project, which will use the latest research and technology to trial new, innovative ways to tackle traffic problems...

How to spend your time on long bus journeys productively

Sometimes public transport can be a real nightmare. Thankfully, many other times, you’re actually getting new services. It was a relief to find out that a new bus has been launched between Exeter and Bristol which will operate 19 journeys a day around the clock. It’s the South West Falcon – the first coach service connecting major South West locations.

Discounts for diners using Avocet Line

Gastropubs along the Avocet Line from Exeter to Exmouth are offering discounts to diners who travel there by train. Rail passengers can get 10% off their food bill at selected pubs when they show the train ticket for their journey. The discounts will run until the end of March, excluding Valentine’s weekend, 13th and 14th February, and Easter weekend 25th-28th March. All are close to stations on the Avocet Line.

Rail passengers urged to check journey times

GWR is urging passengers to check journey times before they travel over the Christmas period as Network Rail carry out vital works to modernise the rail infrastructure.

Services will be altered between Thursday 24 December and Sunday 3 January as part of a programme of engineering in the Thames Valley needed for the launch of Crossrail in 2019, and continued works to electrify the Great Western mainline.

Stagecoach invests £2.5m in luxury vehicles

Monday 23 November sees Stagecoach’s flagship brand, Stagecoach Gold, introduced on route 57, which connects Exeter and Exmouth with Topsham, Lympstone and Brixington.

The local operator has invested £2.5m in 11 new vehicles, all of which feature free Wi-Fi and USB charging, as well as leather seats with extra legroom, giving customers a luxury travel experience between city and sea.
