Stagecoach South West have announced today that following a review of supported bus services by Plymouth City Council, there are a number of changes to our Plymouth bus network. Stagecoach will be introducing three new services in partnership with Plymouth City Council.

Stagecoach has been awarded new contracts on Routes 4/4A/4B/4C, connecting the City Centre to Plymstock via Saltram Meadow, route 52 connecting Plympton to Derriford Hospital and the contract on route 200 connecting the City Centre to Coypool Park and Ride has been renewed.

Dragon catches bus to Exeter Northcott Theatre for starring role in Christmas show Robin Hood

Fluffy the Dragon had been rehearsing with the Robin Hood cast at the city centre Barnfield Theatre, but needed to get to the Northcott Theatre, where the show will be staged this Christmas, for a dress rehearsal.

Fluffy had intended to fly to the Northcott, but Robin Hood director Daniel Buckroyd gave the dragon strict instructions to save their energy for the show. Fluffy had to find another way to travel to the Northcott.

Stagecoach SW confirm details of free travel weekends in Exeter

Stagecoach South West have confirmed details on the upcoming days of free bus travel within the Exeter Plus travel zone.

Following the recent decision of the Traffic Commissioner, bus journeys will be free over the weekends of Saturday the 10th and Sunday 11th of December and Saturday the 17th and Sunday 18th of December 2022. Customers will not require a ticket for travel in this area on these dates.

Stagecoach launch new bus service from Exeter to Cranbrook

Local bus operator Stagecoach South West have launched a brand new cross city connection in the form of Routes 4 and 4A. Buses connect Honiton Road Park and Ride with St David’s Station via Exeter City Centre up to every 10 minutes throughout the day, and onto Cranbrook up to every 20 minutes. Brand new service, 4A also now serves Exeter Airport every 20 minutes throughout the week.

Stagecoach appoints new Managing Director for South West

Stagecoach has announced that it has appointed Peter Knight to manage its bus operations in the south-west. Peter, who is currently Managing Director of Stagecoach Bluebird running bus and coach services across the north-east of Scotland, will take over as Managing Director of Stagecoach South West in December.

A key part of Peter’s role will be working with local stakeholders across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. He will also be responsible for a team of around 1,000 employees and over 300 vital express and local bus services connecting communities across the south-west....

Stagecoach South West have announced today that following a comprehensive review of their network, from Sunday 30th October 2022 there will be a number of changes to bus timetables in the South West.

Changes mainly affect Exeter and outlying areas and North Devon. There are also a couple of minor changes in Plymouth and Torbay.

These changes will enable the company to focus resource where demand is greatest, concentrating on maintaining vital journeys and connections and to provide a network that best meets the changing needs of the communities they serve.

Stagecoach South West Managing Director Mike Watson has confirmed plans to stand down in January 2023 after 11 years in various roles across the wider group.

Mike (48), who has more than 25 years’ experience in the bus sector with several major public transport companies, was appointed to lead the south-west business on an interim basis in December 2019. He was confirmed as Managing Director in February 2020 just before the start of the pandemic.

Volunteers needed for Return Journey of the Chatty Bus

A Devon health and wellbeing charity is seeking ‘chatty’ volunteers to come on board once a week to provide friendly conversation, information and support to local people on the number 57 bus between Exmouth and Exeter. The Chatty Bus, organised by Westbank Community Health and Care, relaunched on Thursday, 28th July as part of an initiative to reduce loneliness and social isolation.

New bus network confirmed for Exeter to reflect post-pandemic travel patterns

Stagecoach has today unveiled plans for a more sustainable bus network to attract greater passenger numbers over the long term.

Changes are confirmed for Exeter today, in the first step toward a new bus network, reflecting the changed travel patterns following the Covid-19 pandemic.

The changes in Exeter, developed in consultation with Devon County Council, will be effective from 31 July 2022 and include the following:
