Council backs construction of park and change site at Exeter Science Park

Councillors have given the go ahead for a "park and change" site to be built on the outskirts of Exeter.

Devon County Council’s Cabinet approved the construction of the £2.2 million scheme to the east of Exeter Science Park on Wednesday (11 December).

The site aims to relieve traffic congestion on the A30 Honiton Road and Moor Lane roundabout, enabling drivers to park on the edge of the city and then switch to sustainable forms of transport - bus, bicycle or car share – for their journey into the city.

Stagecoach South West have released their Christmas and New Year bus schedule detailing services over the holiday season.

To coincide with the start of late night shopping in Exeter, Stagecoach South West will be offering a '5 for a fiver' ticket, allowing five people to enjoy return travel on the Honiton Road Park and Ride for just £5 on Thursdays. Services will run from Exeter city centre to the Park and Ride until midnight, enabling people to make the most of the festive fun on offer in the city centre.

Stagecoach South West and The Devon General Society commemorated 100 years of bus travel with two historic buses and a modern Stagecoach South West bus recreating the original Service 2 route from Exeter to Torquay.

Bus Users UK will be by the Princesshay Shopping Centre on Bedford Street at 10am to 2pm on Wednesday 12 June to hear what local people have to say about their bus services.

Bus Users UK, the charity that aims to bring people together through socially inclusive transport, will be joined by representatives from Devon County Council and Stagecoach South West.

New extended bus service to Exeter Quayside

A new trial weekend bus service to Exeter’s Quayside is set to begin early next month. As part of a six-month trial, the H service will stop at the Quayside on Friday and Saturday evenings between 7pm and 11pm and on Sundays from 8:30am and 11pm. The trial service will begin on Friday 6 July. Local school children hopped aboard Stagecoach’s revamped ‘Big Beach Bus’ to celebrate its start of service for 2018.

Five schools in the South West last week hosted an award-winning educational bus from betty for schools, designed to teach young women about periods in a more open and engaging way.

Bus Workers Union RMT has confirmed that members on Stagecoach South West buses will be mounting a major programme of strike action in a fight for pay and workplace justice.

RMT’s executive has taken the decision to call on all our Stagecoach South West Exeter, Torquay and Barnstaple members to take industrial action as a result of the company’s abject failure to address pay and conditions issues at the heart of this dispute.
