John Lee, the High Sheriff for Devon, first visited Exeter YMCA earlier this year. He had a tour of their projects, met with many of the clients to hear how Exeter YMCA had helped transform their lives and heard presentations on their work in prisons, through Job Clubs and in schools.

Several businesses are supporting Exeter YMCA’s biggest fundraising event, Sleep Easy 2014, by donating prizes.
Sleep Easy involves members of the public spending a night under the stars to raise awareness and funds for Exeter YMCA’s work of supporting homeless young people.
Last year over 180 people took part, raising over £30,000, and Exeter YMCA hope Sleep Easy 2014 will outdo last year’s success.

Exeter Chamber of Commerce helped eight local charities raise over £900 at their Christmas Charity Auction Lunch last week, held at the Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel.
Paul Nero, chief executive of Radio Exe was the auctioneer on the day, taking bids from over 100 business people that were in attendance. Exeter YMCA saw fantastic success for their annual ‘Y-Walk’ event on Saturday 1 June, as a group of more than 40 trekked 11 miles from Okehampton Camp to Postbridge.
