A car dealer in Exeter is big on being green, so sponsoring a local bowls tournament has proved the perfect match.

JFE Nissan Exeter, on the Marsh Barton Trading Estate, has celebrated 10 years of supporting the annual ISCA Bowling Competition, providing cash prizes for the winners.

Young entrepreneur opens first beauty salon on city trading estate

Eighteen-year-old entrepreneur, Hannah White, has opened her first beauty salon based on Marsh Barton Trading Estate in Exeter.

Hannah, who grew up in Alphington and attended local schools Bowhill Primary School and St James High School, trained as a beautician at Exeter College and went on to work at several Exeter based salons before making the brave decision to follow her dreams and go it alone.

Hannah opened her tanning and beauty salon, The Beauty Lounge, on AlphinBrook Road last month and has had a constant stream of customers already.

Appeal following sexual assaults in Exeter

Police in Exeter are appealing for information following three linked sexual assaults.

Two assaults occurred along the footpath which runs alongside the River Exe opposite the Quay area of Exeter and down towards Double Locks public house.

On both occasions the offender approached the female victims on a bicycle and touched them inappropriately before riding off.

The first incident occurred at around 5pm on Tuesday 11th November, up river from the Double Locks public house.

Work well under way on new Matford Green Business Park

Works are well underway on the new Matford Green Business Park, with SWH Civils as the Principle Contractor for Civil Engineering and Infrastructure operations.

The major extension to the established Matford Park and Marsh Barton employment areas is recognised as Exeter’s largest commercial and trade centre.

Working with Eagle Land, SWH has provided the infrastructure for the first two stages of the new 20acre business development, which will generate 46,500 square meters of employment space, including pubs, restaurants and retail facilities.

Cricket club bowled over by energy savings

St Thomas Cricket and Sports Club in Marsh Barton is reaping the rewards of a new 12kw solar installation that could slash the clubs electricity bills by up to 50%.

The club, which is now run as an event, conference and function venue, decided to go ahead with the 48 panel installation after the club manager cut his own electricity bills by 20% following the installation of solar panels on the roof of his own home.

Emergency services called to Marsh Barton

Emergency services were called to Trusham Road, Marsh Barton, after a collsion took place involving a motorcycle and a car.

The incident, which took place at 1.14pm on Saturday, resulted in 3 litres of oil being spilled at the scene.

A fire appliance from Danes Castle was mobilsed to the incident on the request of the police.

Firefighters helped to make the vehicles and area safe.

Exeter 19-year-old on course to make first million

Police and fire crews have begun investigating the cause of major blaze at an Exeter car show room. At its height around 40 firefighters tackled the fire, at Hendys Car Supermarket on the Marsh Barton Industrial Estate, which was reported to be under control by 7:45am. Crews remain at the scene and the incident is still causing major traffics delays due blocked roads on the estate. Crews called to Marsh Barton blaze

Crew from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to extinguish a baler which was on fire at Exeter's Marsh Barton Industrial Estate this morning.

An appliance from Danes Castle and from Middlemoor attended the incident, at Devon Contract Waste Marsh Barton, at 8am this morning.

Firefighters attended the scene after reports of a baler on fire.

On arrival they found a fire involving a plastics baling machine within an industrial building. Fire crews extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet.
