As National Adoption week kicks off (12th- 17th October), local adoption agency and charity, Families for Children, is turning its attention to finding loving, adoptive families for those children who wait the longest.

Devon-based, Families for Children Adoption, are delighted to announce that the Agency has been awarded ‘Outstanding’ following a recent OFSTED inspection. This is the third consecutive time the Agency has achieved the award since 2010.

Adoption Support Service wins 2018 Charity Governance Award

Families for Children are delighted to announce that we have been awarded of one of the prestigious Charity Governance Awards for 2018.

Families for Children were chosen from over 20 charities from across the UK each nominated to receive one of seven awards and a £5,000 unrestricted grant. All the shortlisted charities represented a diverse range of activities that include mental health care, family support, overseas aid, community sports programmes and post-natal care.

Second OBE for Devon adoption charity

Former Deputy CEO of local adoption agency Families for Children, Graham Pellew, has been awarded an OBE from Prince William at Buckingham Palace. Graham, who has recently completed 30 years of working in Adoption, was awarded the honour for his services to children and families.

Graham started his career working for Nottinghamshire County Council, then moved across to the voluntary sector in 2000 firstly as Adoption Team Manager and then Deputy Chief Executive for Faith in Families.

Families for Children, Chief Executive Caroline Davis, OBE, has received a Lifetime Achievement award for her services to children and adoption in the South West. Caroline beat off three others worthy contenders from across the UK to be awarded the Gareth Marr Lifetime Achievement Award the National Adoption Week awards in London.

Local adoption charity launches the Atrium

Families for Children, local adoption agency and charitable trust, were joined by patron and adoptee Michael Caines, MBE, to officially launch their new Centre for Adoption Support, the Atrium.
